Regulations Guidelines for Queen Conch Fishing in the U.S. Caribbean EEZ, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands

Closed Fishery

Fishing for or possession of queen conch in the EEZ is PROHIBITED, with the exception of Lang Bank, St. Croix, USVI (east of 64°34’W).

Fishing for or possession of queen conch allowed from October 1 through June 30 each year, at Lang Bank, St. Croix, USVI (east of 64°34’W).*

Size Limit

The possession of undersized queen conch less than nine (9) inches total length or less than 3/8 inch lip thickness measured at the thickest point of the lip is PROHIBITED.  All species in the fisheries management unit must be landed still attached to the shell.

Quota and Bag Limits

Daily limit for non-commercial fishers is three (3) queen conch per day, not to exceed twelve (12) per boat.

Licensed commercial fishers may land one hundred and fifty (150) queen conch per day.

Gear Restrictions

Harvest of queen conch at Lang Bank east of St. Croix, USVI, using HOOKAH gear is PROHIBITED.
